Our Services
COSMETIC DENTISTRY
A beautiful smile can brighten your life every day, professionally and socially. And unlike plastic surgery, cosmetic dentistry isn't a major operation. Imagine coming in for a single appointment or two and emerging with the smile you've always wanted... no pain, no strain, and no time taken away from your busy life. The results are immediate and dramatic. Now a movie star smile is as close as your mirror.
  TEETH WHITENING
We can make your teeth white! white! white! Now you can brighten your smile with our powerful whitening treatments that lighten discolorations caused by coffee, cigarettes, medication, or aging. You'll notice the difference immediately...and so will everyone else. We can treat discolored, stained or aging teeth with our state-of-the-art whitening process. The treatment can be completed in just over an hour in our office, or you can choose at-home gel treatments. You can be custom fitted for a tray containing whitening gel quickly and easily in your initial visit, and then continue treatments in your home until your teeth are as bright as you want. A dazzling smile isn't just for celebrities any more.
LUMINEERS
Think of this treatment as a manicure for your smile. Lumineers are thin shells of porcelain that are custom fit over your natural teeth. We can change the shape, color and length of your teeth in only two visits. Lumineers can also correct chipped, weakened, or discolored teeth. No more yellow; no more gaps or embarrassing chips. And lumineers can return real structural integrity to damaged teeth, while leaving them looking as good (or possibly better) than the originals. It looks so good you'll wonder why you waited so long.
  WHITE COMPOSITE FILLINGS
Until recently, dentists used a silver and mercury amalgam to fill and seal cavities. Because a larger amount of the original tooth must be removed, these types of fillings often weaken teeth. Recent innovations now allow us to replace old silver fillings with composite or porcelain fillings that are stronger, safer and more natural looking. Say goodbye to metal mouth and hello to a beautiful new smile.
PORCELAIN CROWNS
When the size of a "filling" exceeds a certain proportion of the tooth, it must be replaced with a "cap," also called a "crown." Porcelain crowns look very natural and don't have a dark metal line. Porcelain crowns reflect light with a natural healthy glow. Porcelain crowns can make even the ugliest teeth look like a movie star smile and reflect light with a natural healthy glow.
INLAYS AND ONLAYS
When more than a third of a tooth's biting surface is damaged, a dentist will often use an inlay or onlay. Large fillings on back teeth often require a stronger and properly contoured restoration, such as porcelain inlays or onlays. They are created at an off-site dental lab and are bonded into place using a strong resin. Inlays and onlays protect teeth similarly as crowns, but conserve more natural tooth structure and are a better match to your tooth's natural color.
BONDING
Bonding is similar to sculpting individual teeth with a special tooth-like material that looks, acts and feels like the real thing. Bonding is an affordable, quick and painless way to repair many cosmetic flaws or injuries.
  METAL-FREE RESTORATIONS
Turn "metal mouth" into a natural smile. Replace old crowns and bridges with metal-free restorations. There's a huge difference between metal fillings and our new porcelain restorations that reflect the translucence of natural teeth. Your new metal-free crowns, inlays and bridges won't show wear or cause opposing teeth to erode, and fitting the crown or bridge is a breeze. Tooth-colored fillings can substantially improve the beauty of your teeth.
ROOT CANALS
When a tooth's nerve or pulp area becomes diseased or injured, a special endodontic dental procedure called root canal therapy may help you save that tooth. If the diseased pulp is not removed, your tooth becomes infected and you could lose it. During a root canal, the dentist removes the pulp, cleans the root canal and seals the canal to protect it. Once you are healed, your dentist places a crown over the tooth to help make it stronger. Generally, a root canal is a relatively simple procedure with little or no discomfort.
IMPLANTS
If you are missing one or more teeth, you'll want replacements that are as natural as possible. Implants feel like your natural teeth because they are bridges that are permanently anchored to your jaw. They can replace ill-fitting dentures or missing teeth; they can also be used to stabilize dentures. Because there is always a perfect fit, implants are almost the same as having your natural teeth back again. We offer both mini and regular dental implants.
You are a good candidate for implants if you have jawbone ridges that are in good shape and have healthy oral tissues. When the implant device is inserted into the jaw, a chemical and mechanical bond is formed.
BRIDGES
Healthy and strong teeth support and maintain your jaw alignment. That is why when you lose one or more teeth, your remaining teeth may shift, and the ability to chew and speak may be affected. A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, eliminating the gap where those teeth had been. The bridge is bonded onto surrounding teeth for support. Regardless of the type of bridge recommended, its success depends on keeping the surrounding teeth healthy and strong.
DENTURE STABILIZATION WITH IMPLANTS
Missing teeth can create a host of aesthetic and functional problems including sagging facial muscles, inability to eat certain foods and speak. Dentures may be your best solution if you've lost all your natural teeth due to periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury.
Fitting a patient for dentures does not have to be a traumatic experience. During the preliminary visit, the remaining teeth are removed and a model is made of the patient's jaw. An immediate denture may be fitted so the patient does not have to be without teeth while the mouth tissue heals. Once the mouth tissue is completely healed, the patient is fitted with their custom dentures. For eligible candidates, dentures can be stabilized through mini-implants. Your doctor will evaluate your bone status to see if mini-implant stabilization is right for your denture needs.
PERIODONTAL CARE
Gum disease, or more correctly called "periodontal disease", is a bacterial infection in the gums and supporting structures of the teeth. It is characterized by gum tissue that is red, puffy, and bleeds easily when touched with a toothbrush, floss or dental instrument. There have been major advances in non-surgical periodontal treatment for chronic periodontal disease. Our state-of-the-art ultrasonic scalers have been designed by a periodontist for maximum effectiveness on root surfaces. Antibiotic gels, which are placed below the gum line, reduce the need for periodontal surgery.
The bacteria we see in periodontal disease is the same bacteria that predisposes to heart disease and stroke. We recommend VEEMA as a periodontal rinse because of both its anti-oxidant and mostly its anti-inflammatory properties. At Yorktown Family Dentistry we take every opportunity to help you control your periodontal disease problem non-surgically and then reevaluate to determine the effectiveness of the treatment. If surgical treatment is required, the treatments maximize your comfort and your ability to maintain periodontal support.

How Great Do You Want to Look and Feel?
Most health industry experts will tell you that building
a strong nutritional foundation is vital for your health
and well-being. In fact, scientists and medical
doctors are now recognizing the need for adding
vitamins to your daily nutritional program. Two
Harvard Medical School scientists recommended that
all adults take daily vitamin supplements based on
two factors – the recognition that Americans do not
receive enough vitamins from their diet alone and
the result of nearly 40 years of clinical research
indicating vitamin supplementation plays an
important role in long-term good health.** The other
major factors in this strong foundation are following
a balanced diet, exercising regularly and
supplementing with not only the ideal amount of
vitamins, but also powerful antioxidants and major,
trace and ultra-trace minerals.
Why is it so important to build a strong nutritional
foundation? Every day your body’s 63 trillion cells
are constantly being bombarded by unstable
molecules called “free radicals” from the air you
breathe, the food you eat and the water you drink.
Free radicals can damage your cells and increase
the aging process. (The more effective you are at
protecting your cells, the healthier they can become
and the younger you can feel!)
